I work in the hospitality industry (hotel) and we find a lot of items every year. We store the items securely at our premises. In our experience it is difficult to find the owner and we have a lot of administration and interaction to determine if the person who claims the item is the owner!

Yes, correct, the message states a unique number. This unique number is used for reference and you should write this on the tiqs lost + found bag.

Ok, so I have taken a picture, described the item and selected a category, uploaded the photo and when I have the lost + found bags in I will the unique code on the bag. I also can write additional information on the bag. You want me to put the found item then in the bag and close it?

The chain of custody in this case, means that an item is privately and secured stored. You can see it, but others cannot touch it. If you find a wallet with money, for instance. This for safety and it is also hygienic.

I get it, we make a photo, store the item in a plastic bag store the bag safely and when someone contacts us or looks at our webpage the item can be claimed. How does this claiming work? Does the owner have to call us, send us an e-mail?

No, the owner claims the item on your page and than complete an administrative process so we are sure he is the rightful owner!

The tiqs lost + found process, automatically determines the rightful owner by processing the claim. First the owner has to pay for repatriating cost (sending the item with DHL worldwide to the owner address), the ID of the person who makes the claim is checked (GDPR compliant) and we need either an utility bill or proof of purchase.

No, We have a worldwide collaboration with DHL. We expedite DHL to your premises. DHL will pack the item for and ship it. You only have to give it to DHL. From that point on the item is processed by DHL. A tracking number is stated in your dashboard on this item and the owner is informed accordingly.

Whow! So we only take a photo, store it and the rest is done automatically? What about insurance and liability?

As soon as the item is in transit by DHL, you do not have any liability anymore. The owner can opt-in for insurance and the owner can keep track the item through the tracking number.

Per, handled found item, not processed by DHL € 4,75,

The following process and service are involved. (1) We provide a full automatic administrative service, including (2) ID scanning (with authentication and authenticity checking of the document, as used in the financial industry), (3) a complete automatic system with apps. We use for scanning the ID document, GDPR government used and approved services, the cost is included in the € 4,75.

The cost involved in lost + found handling for hospitality has an average of 15-25 euro without our system. We take that cost away.
